Writing a CV for creative roles: clarity first, personality second

A CV is not a miniature portfolio. Its primary job is to help a recruiter quickly understand whether your experience fits the role before opening detailed work samples.

Prioritize useful evidence

For each role, explain scope, project type, collaboration and meaningful outcomes. Replace generic responsibility statements with concrete work and results.

Design for scanning

  • Use a consistent type scale.
  • Maintain strong contrast.
  • Avoid unsupported percentage bars for skills.
  • Keep your portfolio link easy to find.

Adapt it to the role

You do not need to rewrite the entire CV for every application, but the introduction, skill order and featured projects should reflect the opportunity.
